Typing Tales

Typing Tales was a participatory artwork commissioned for Cradley Heath's (Birmingham) 'Women Chainmakers Festival 2014'.
Audiences were invited to tell their stories of Chain Makers or responses to the issues surround the festival such as gender inequality, low wages, poor working conditions, the union and so on.
People's responses were typed or drawn onto a single roll of paper that was fed through a vintage typewriter in order to create a new communal document to convey the power of communication and unity that has been imperative throughout history and in the present day in order to create change and improve the lives of future generations.
